Christian Experience - Prayer
- An Introduction to Christian Experience
- There are many different experiences that make up a Christian's life. Each Christian has a unique experience of Christ. There is (1) repenting which is a change of mind and leads an unbelieving sinner to a view that he needs a savior. Repenting should be experienced daily and, if the Holy Spirit is operating and recognized within by a believer, it can be experienced many times each day. Second is (2) believing into Christ. Next is (3) calling on/confessing the name of the Lord. The fourth experience is (4) baptism. Fifth, is (5) feeding on the Word. The sixth experience is the one we are considering today, which is (6) prayer. The three remaining experiences that we will be covering for the rest of this semester are (7) confession of sins, (8) enjoying grace, and the last and a major experience for every Christian, (9) walking in love.
- It is a fact that many people whether they are a Christian or not frequently know and practice prayer to some degree. Sometimes prayer is practiced as a last resort after an attempt to manage our own lives begins to fail and we become desperate when facing the inherent weakness that dwells within us. Some pray to God as an additional resource to be successful in their lives and look upon God as a servant who exists to serve them personally. Regardless of how we view God now, we pray that all of us would discover the true way to know God through Jesus Christ, His rightful place in our lives, and the richness that true prayer can contribute to this knowledge of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.
