Christian Experience - Enjoying Grace ( Part 1 of 3)

  1. An Introduction to Christian Experience
    1. Last week we learned that confession of sins is a practice of the Christian life that requires our opening up to the Lord to shine within us and in particular it involves our conscience. Many times our fellowship with the Lord is interrupted by a sin in our personal life. A time with the Lord daily or whenever we sense that our fellowship with the Lord has been interrupted is a necessity. Many times the Lord will enlighten a particular sin we have committed and it can be confessed and the Lord's precious blood can cleanse our conscience to restore our fellowship with God.
    2. This week we begin the second to the last topic on the Christian experience of enjoying grace. Here we will see that grace is more than just an outward gift to us. Grace actually cannot be considered in a complete way without describing the action that our God and Father took both in sending His son Christ and by giving us "another comforter," "the Spirit of reality" which has been made available because of Christ's going away (dying) and being resurrected to become the life giving Spirit. (see John 7:38-39 and 1 Cor. 15:45b). The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the enjoyment of this grace are meant to be the content of our human life for the rest of the time that the Lord gives us to live the human life while on this earth. Such experience of enjoying grace gives us the well being that all of us long for within (God's joy and peace) and prepares us to reign with Christ when He comes again to the earth.
  2. Verses and footnotes from the Recovery Version of the New Testament
    1. Romans 5:21-3 - Through whom also we have obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand and boast because of the hope of the glory of God
    2. John 1:146 and 1:1 - And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us (and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only Begotten from the Father), full of grace and reality. 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
    3. 1 Corinthians 15:101-2 - But by the grace of God I am what I am; and His grace unto me did not turn out to be in vain, but, on the contrary, I labored more abundantly than all of them, yet not I but the grace of God which is with me.
    4. Ephesians 2:82 - For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; 9 Not of works that no one should boast.
    5. Galatians 2:211 - I do not nullify the grace of God; for if righteousness is through law, then Christ has died for nothing.
