Christian Experience - Walking in Love (Part 2 of 2)

  1. An Introduction to Christian Experience
    1. As we come to the last study for this semester, let's take a minute to review the different experiences that we have covered thus far that make up a Christian's life. Each Christian has a unique experience of Christ. But there are, in general, several experiences that all Christians share and enjoy. Let's define briefly these experiences one by one. Define now (1) repenting, (2) believing into Christ, (3) calling on/confessing the name of the Lord, (4) baptism, (5) feeding on the Word, and (6) prayer, (7) confession of sins, and (8) enjoying grace. The last and a major experience for every Christian is (9) walking in love.
    2. Last week we saw the intimate relationship between the love of God for us and how dependent our love for Him is on the speaking of faith that we received as the gospel and our daily opening to God and the grace he supplies to us thru His Son, Jesus Christ. This week we will go on and develop this love and see its ultimate conclusion - a divine romance for eternity between God and man in the New Jerusalem.
  2. Verses and footnotes from the Recovery Version of the New Testament
    1. Ephesians 5:251 - Husbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her
    2. Ephesians 6:232-3 - Peace to the brothers and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
    3. Ephesians 6:242 - Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ in incorruptibility
    4. 2 Peter 1:71,2 - And in godliness, brotherly love; and in brotherly love, love.
    5. 1 John 2:52,4 - But whoever keeps His Word, truly in this one the love of God has been perfected. In this we know that we are in Him.
    6. Revelation 22:171 - And the Spirit and the bride say, Come! And let him who hears say, Come! And let him who is thirsty come; let him who wills take the water of life freely.
  3. Questions
    1. Can you give a verse that says that God loved us first? What real evidence is there that this is indeed true?
    2. Do you remember the verse and footnote from last week that stated that to love God is indispensable?
