The vision of Christ as the High Priest (Revelation 1:13-16)

  1. Introduction
    1. Last week we had our first message on the vision of Christ in Revelation that reveals Him as the Lion-lamb. It might seem strange to skip to chapters 4 and 5 to see this aspect and skip the vision of Christ as the High Priest in chapters 1-3. The reason is simply this. Most Christians have heard before that Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God and that he died for our sins. Some even know that the Passover lamb in the book of Exodus is a type of Christ as our Passover. Because of His wonderful death on the cross, we have been delivered from a righteous judgment of God upon His enemy Satan, and a fate that we would have shared with Satan if the Lamb had not delivered us from it on the cross. We will remember our Christ's sacrifice and worship and praise Him forever, even in the new heaven and the new earth. (Revelation 22:1)
    2. The fact that Christ is also our high priest is not as well known. However, in the New Testament there are hints in some of the books as well as in the book of Hebrews that mention this fact in a very definite way.
