The Mystery of Christ in His Process and Work - Resurrection, Part 3

  1. Introduction
    1. Two weeks ago we saw the wonderful fact of the Lord's resurrection and the consequences of such a resurrection for both for our personal salvation and upon the entire creation in the coming eternity.
    2. Last week we explored glorification. For Christ's glorification to the heavens it required first death and then resurrection. For us it is the same. The fact that we can participate in death and resurrection has been solidly established by His dying for all and rising for all as the grain of wheat in John 12:24 which was spoken just before he went to the cross. Praise Him for his wonderful life-giving resurrection!
    3. This week we look at scriptures that develop the life-releasing aspect of the Lord's resurrection in relation to us that the Father loves and has called according to His purpose. As these verses point out, the resurrection is directly related to our being "born again" and with the wonderful fact that we are "sons of God." Since we share in Christ's resurrection we are now His brothers. The maturing process of this Life described in Paul's presentation in 1 Corinthians chapter 15 consummates in the redemption of our bodies. Thus, our precious Jesus Christ, the firstborn Son of God, has made us His many brothers and the many of sons of God. Thus we all as believers in Christ and as receivers of His divine life become partakers of the divine nature mentioned last week in 2 Peter 1:4 and eventually through the victory of Christ in resurrection, victors over God's enemy Satan, over the world, over sin and over death. Thus, our mortality eventually is changed into immortality.
  2. Crucial verses and footnotes in the New Testament Recovery Version Bible.
    1. John 20:172,3 - Jesus said to her, Do not touch Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brothers and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.
    2. Romans 8:294,5 - Because those whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the Firstborn among many brothers
    3. 1 Corinthians 15:543 - And when this corruptible will put on incorruption and this mortal will put on immortality, then the word which is written will come to pass, "Death has been swallowed up unto victory."
    4. 1 Corinthians 15:571 - But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
  3. Questions
    1. How could God foreknow and even predestinate that we will be conformed to the image of His Son? (This is not a trick question--the answer is obvious.)
    2. When did Jesus pray a prayer for His own glorification?
    3. Are the ones among us who are female sons of God as well? How does the Bible indicate that we all corporately have a female status as well?
