The Mystery of Christ in His Person - As MAN!

  1. Introduction
    1. Last week we saw clearly from the scriptures that Christ is God. We also saw that He is somewhat of a mystery. Even though He is God, He did not exert that status in His human living. We observed the following facts:
      - He was not of noble birth.
      - He had no wealth.
      - He was not a politician and did not care for power.
      - He was not educated in the schools of His time.
      - He did not raise an army to defeat His enemies.
      - He was never married and did not raise a human family to carry on his name and legacy.
      - He was not a famous philosopher.
      - Although He performed miracles and healings He asked that these things not be told or made public.
    2. This week we will see that He was also a real man.
  2. Crucial verses and footnotes in the New Testament Recovery Version Bible.
    1. Matthew 26:63-641 - But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest said to Him, I charge You to swear by the living God to tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus said to him, You have said rightly. Nevertheless I say to you, From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.
    2. Matthew 4:42 - But He answered and said, It is written, "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out through the mouth of God."
    3. Hebrews 2:61 - For one has solemnly testified somewhere, saying, "What is man, that You bring him to mind? Or the sons of man, that You care for him?"
    4. Hebrews 2:91 - But we see Jesus, who was made a little inferior to the angels because of the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death on behalf of everything.
    5. 1 Timothy 2:53 - For there is one God and one Mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus
  3. Questions
    1. Why will Christ's humanity be important in His second coming, especially when considering that He will set up His kingdom?
    2. What major event in Jesus' life beside his birth proves that he is a genuine man.
    3. In the Bible who was the first man? Who was the second man? (1 Corinthians 15:45)
