The Mystery of Christ in His Process and Work - Crucifixion

  1. Introduction
    1. The fact that Christ died for our sins is well known. Many approach this topic with sadness. Many times at our salvation we are touched by the Lord's concern for our helpless state and our eventual judgment which could have resulted in the lake of fire. The Lord's death on the cross solved a big problem that we have before God.
    2. There are quite a few more details about the cross of Christ that we will read about today. We cannot help but be touched by the wonderful details concerning how the Lord died, when it was determined that He would die, where His death would take place, and how He would die. Eventually, we have to praise the Lord for such a wonderful death!
  2. Crucial verses and footnotes in the New Testament Recovery Version Bible.
    1. Mark 14:361 - And He said, Abba Father, all things are possible to You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will.
    2. Matthew 27:451 - Now from the sixth hour darkness fell over all the land until the ninth hour.
    3. Matthew 26:21 - You know that after two days the Passover takes place, and the Son of Man is being delivered up to be crucified.
    4. John 18:321 - That the word of Jesus might be fulfilled which He spoke, signifying by what kind of death He was to die.
    5. 1 Peter 1:201 - Who was foreknown before the foundation of the world but has been manifested in the last of times for your sake
    6. Hebrews 9:142 - How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
    7. Mark 10:11 - And He rose up from there and came into the borders of Judea and beyond the Jordan; and again crowds came together to Him, and as He was accustomed, again He taught them.
  3. Questions
    1. Did we cause the Lord's death?
    2. What role did Satan play in the Lord being crucified?
    3. Was the cross simply a matter of the Lord's earthly ministry as a historical event?
