The Mystery of Christ in His Process and Work - Resurrection, Part 1

  1. Introduction
    1. This week's lesson is the first of a three part presentation. Today we look at the fact of resurrection and some of the accomplished work of Jesus Christ in being raised from the dead. This introduction will be quite short today. The reason is that we want to spend a little more time on the questions after we read the verses and the footnotes.
  2. Crucial verses and footnotes in the New Testament Recovery Version Bible.
    1. Mark 16:61 - And he said to them, Do not be alarmed. You are seeking Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has been raised; He is not here. Behold the place where they laid Him.
    2. Matthew 28:12 - Now late on the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary the Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave.
    3. Romans 4:251 - Who was delivered for our offenses and was raised for our justification.
    4. Acts 2:241-2 - Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pangs of death, since it was not possible for Him to be held by it.
    5. Acts 13:331 - That God has fully fulfilled this promise to us their children in raising up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, "You are My Son; today I have begotten You."
    6. 1 Corinthians 15:451 - So also it is written, "The first man, Adam, became a living soul"; the last Adam became a life-giving Spirit.
    7. 1 Peter 1:37 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has regenerated us unto a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
  3. Questions
    1. What is the assurance that God fully accepted Christ's death on our behalf?
    2. Acts 13:33 shows that Jesus in His humanity was born of God. What verse in Romans 8 shows that he was the firstborn in resurrection? What does firstborn mean?
    3. What does regenerated mean as in 1 Peter 1:3? If we were regenerated when Jesus was resurrected from the dead, why do we still need to believe in the resurrection in order to experience regeneration?
