The Mystery of Christ in His Process and Work - Resurrection, Part 2

  1. Introduction
    1. Last week we saw the wonderful fact of the Lord's resurrection and the consequences of such a resurrection both for our personal salvation and upon the entire creation in eternity.
    2. This week we explore glorification. For Christ it required first death and then the resurrection. For us it is the same. The fact that we can participate in death and resurrection has been solidly established by His dying for all and rising for all as the grain of wheat in John 12:24 which was spoken just before he went to the cross. Praise Him for his wonderful life-giving resurrection!
  2. Crucial verses and footnotes in the New Testament Recovery Version Bible.
    1. John 12:231 - And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
    2. John 12:242 - Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless the grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it abides alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
    3. John 20:11 - Now on the first day of the week, Mary the Magdalene came early to the tomb while it was yet dark and saw the stone taken away from the tomb.
    4. 1 Corinthians 15:20, 23 - But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. But each one in his own order: the firstfruits, Christ; then those who are Christ's at His coming
  3. Questions
    1. In John 12:24 the one grain dies and then becomes much fruit? How different are the fruit of a plant (the many grains) from the seed that produced it?
    2. A marvelous expression of glorification is prayed for by the Lord Jesus 5 chapters after John 12:24 (chapter 17)?
    3. Can you give an example of what it means to be a firstfruit?
