Regeneration, Part 2 (Resulting in the Bride of Christ)

  1. A Quick Review
    1. This year we have been covering 14 aspects of the riches of God's salvation. This spring semester we will complete the wonderful and rich items of God's salvation. If you wish to review what we covered in the fall of 2005 you can visit our website at www.life-bible-study.org and go to the outlines section.
    2. Last week we began the matter of regeneration. We saw how strong the Lord Jesus was when He said that we needed to be born again. Also, that this was a spiritual birth. All of this took place in the first six verses in the Gospel of John, chapter 3. Eventually, Nicodemus, a very good and religious man came face to face with the fact that he needed a spiritual birth and also a birth that gave him the divine life and nature (cf. 1 Peter 1:3 and 2 Peter 1:3-4).
  2. Regeneration - Regeneration and transformation resulting in the producing of the bride of Christ
    1. John. 3:14 - And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, Footnote 141
    2. John 3:30 - He must increase, but I must decrease. Footnote 301
    3. Galatians 3:2 - This only I wish to learn from you, Did you receive the Spirit out of the works of law or out of the hearing of faith? Footnote 21
    4. Titus 3:5 - Not out of works in righteousness which we did but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit, Footnote 54
  3. Questions for discussion
    1. What verse in the book of Romans indicates that Christ as the brass serpent had no poison in Him? (Read footnote 3 for that verse.)
    2. When John the Baptist said that he must decrease, what did he mean?
    3. Where in the book of Romans does it show the matter of the "organic union"?
    4. What is a term in the book of Ephesians that indicates that men can be changed by the renewing of the Holy Spirit?
