The Riches of God's Salvation - Regeneration, Part 3
- A Quick Review
- This year we have been covering 14 aspects of the riches of God's salvation. This spring semester we will complete the wonderful and rich items of God's salvation. If you wish to review what we covered in the fall of 2005 or the new weekly studies in 2006 you can visit our website at www.life-bible-study.org and go to the outlines section.
- Two weeks ago we began the matter of regeneration. We saw how strong the Lord Jesus spoke concerning our need to be born again and that this was a spiritual birth. All of this took place in the first six verses of the Gospel of John, chapter 3. Last week we saw that our regeneration initiates a process to begin forming and producing the bride of Christ. Thus, our receiving of the divine life produces an "organic union" with the Lord in our spirit and makes us part of the church, the eternal purpose of God in this age and will result in the marriage of the Son (described as the marriage of the Lamb) with the bride to begin the next age.
- Regeneration
- 1 Peter 1:3 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has regenerated us unto a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, Footnotes 34 and 37
- 1 Peter 1:23 - Having been regenerated not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible, through the living and abiding word of God. Footnotes 231 and 232
- 1 Peter 1:24 - For "all flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass has withered, and the flower has fallen off, but the word of the Lord abides forever." Footnote 241
- 1 John 2:29 - If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness also has been begotten of Him. Footnote 297
- Questions for discussion
- What is a question you could ask a Christian concerning regeneration that would open up the consideration of when our regeneration took place? When did it take place?
- What is the container of Life in addition to our human spirit?
- Can you think of an illustration given by Christ that indicates that man is a kind of grass? (There is more than one.)
- Why is it so easy to love other brothers and sisters when we are experiencing the Christ who indwells our human spirit?
