The Riches of God's Salvation - Selection
- A quick review
- Last week we saw that God has a marvelous rescue plan for fallen man. We know that God has accomplished an eternal salvation for us by sending his Son Jesus to die for our sins and to release His divine life. But, just to have a sure salvation from the lake of fire and a secure eternal destiny in the building of God, the New Jerusalem leaves out some important details. The richness of these details begin with this message.
- We have seen that God created man as a vessel. Beginning with the spirit of man, God intends to fill this vessel until man becomes a full grown son of God in all three parts of his being. This process is God's complete salvation and according to the New Testament there are fourteen aspects revealed in God's operation as God completes this operation in time. They are as follows: Selection, Predestination, Redemption, Propitiation, the Blood of Christ, Forgiveness, Justification (both objective and subjective), Reconciliation, Regeneration, Sanctification, Renewing, Transformation, Conformation, and finally, Glorification or Transfiguration. This week we will cover the aspect of Selection.
- Selection - With God the word "accident" is not in His vocabulary.
- 1 Corinthians 1:27 - But God has chosen the foolish things of the world that He might shame those who are wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world that He might shame the things that are strong Footnote 41.
- Ephesians 1:4 - Even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and without blemish before Him in love, Footnote 1.
- 1 Peter 1:2 - Chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father in the sanctification of the Spirit unto obedience and the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied. Footnotes 42, 43, and 46.
- 2 Thessalonians 2:13 - But we ought to thank God always concerning you, brothers beloved of the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning unto salvation in sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth Footnote 131.
